The study were over found that 51% of the U.K.’s leading journalists had been educated privately.

A similar trend had been observed in politics. 32% of MPs visited a private school.

Their research investigated the educational backgrounds of leading figures in 10 professions  such as the military, medicine, politics journalism, business, law and more.

Based on those results, the trust is calling for greater transparency around adversity, including pay gaps regards to both gender and education. Recruitment practices are also an issue, according to the trust.

Employers are urged to pay interns the national living wage after one month. The trust also calls for the government to provide more support for gifted students.

The chairman of the Sutton Trust and of the Education Endowment Foundation, Sir Peter Lampl, said in a public statement: “As well as academic achievement an independent education tends to develop essential skills such as confidence, articulacy and team work which are vital to career success.”

Research shows that private schools provide students a significant advantage. In a job market as competitive as today, deciding to have your children privately educated can be a smart choice.
